Enterprise Data Node Build & Migration

A resilient enterprise data node combining compute, network and security platforms with staged service migration and tested failover.

The Challenge

The client needed to establish a substantial new data node and move business services onto it without treating hardware installation and operational migration as separate projects. Compute, network, security, power and uplink dependencies had to be controlled together, with agreed failure scenarios and a practical rollback route before the new node could be accepted.

How We Delivered

Design the node as one system

Rack elevations, equipment roles, dual power, management access and fibre and copper uplinks were reconciled before installation so the physical build matched the intended service architecture.

Integrate compute, network and security

Server platforms, switching and security appliances were installed and connected with redundant power and network paths, with the in-progress state recorded separately from the final configuration.

Migrate services in controlled stages

Application and infrastructure dependencies were grouped into planned migration windows. Each stage included readiness checks, stakeholder coordination, validation steps and a defined rollback point.

Prove failover before acceptance

Agreed fault and failover scenarios were exercised after migration, with service recovery, redundant paths and operating records checked before the node moved into operational handover.

Outcomes

  • Compute, network and security platforms integrated into one enterprise data node
  • Business services migrated through controlled stages with defined rollback points
  • Failover and recovery behaviour tested against agreed scenarios
  • Rack, asset, power and connection records reconciled for operations

Client Outcome

The client received an operational node rather than a collection of installed equipment. Migration control, failover evidence and accurate records gave the operating team a dependable starting point for supporting the new environment and expanding it over time.
